Please RSVP and share: Facebook event page

Budget 2018 was tabled on February 27, and we’re hosting a public meeting to answer questions and to hear feedback.

Here are some highlights from yesterday:

– Major science funding, including for investigator-led research.

– Significant new funding for Indigenous communities, including to address the Human Rights Tribunal case re: child welfare.

– A new Canada Workers Benefit – a basic income support for the working poor – to expand an older version and make it automatic.

– A number of measures to support women, including pay equity, and improved parental leave.

– A Nature Fund to improve conservation efforts.

– New support for international development assistance.

– An advisory panel to recommend how we can reasonably implement pharmacare.

– The debt-to-GDP ratio will continue to decline, and the projected deficits in the near-term are slightly smaller.
